Concrete measures needed to strengthen bilateral investment between Pakistan and India

Islamabad, December 19, 2012 (PPI-OT): Mr. Tariq Sayeed, former President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and SAARC CCI stated that concrete measure needs to be taken to strengthen bilateral investment between Pakistan and India.

On Tuesday, 18th December 2012 President of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari has shown interest to negotiate with Indian company planning to produce 2000 Mega Watt electricity from Thar Coal to overcome dearth of electricity in Pakistan.

Mr. Tariq Sayeed further stated that during the meeting with President of Pakistan on the occasion of 36th FPCCI Export Award Trophy held at Governor House Karachi Mr. Asif Ali Zardari was pleased to know the efforts of Business Community and glad on Indian company for investing in electricity generation in Pakistan. Mr.Asif Ali Zardari assured full support to overcome challenges being faced by Business Community.

Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Chief Minister Sindh, also attended the Award ceremony and said that Sindh government will fully support FPCCI to negotiate Indian company for 2000 mega watt electricity generation from Sindh Thar Coal.

Mr. Tariq Sayeed further informed that in a meeting after Award Ceremony held at Governor House President of Pakistan assured that his government will make all efforts to provide level playing field to the business community for the sustainable development of Pakistan economy.

Haji Fazal Kadir Khan Sherani President FPCCI said that Export Awards of FPCCI is a source of encouragement and healthy competition which enhancing Pakistan export. He also appreciated Mr. Asif Ali Zardari President of Pakistan for participating in FPCCI Export Award for the three consecutive years and said his presence encourage Businessmen of the country.

The Export Award Ceremony was attended by Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Federal Minister for Commerce, Dr, Ishrat ul Ebad, Governor Sindh, Mr. Haroon Rashid, Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed Dhingra, Mr.Iqbal Dawood Pakwala, Begum Salma Ahmed, Mirza Abdul Rehman Vice Presidents of FPCCI and other prominent businessmen.
