Congratulations on brilliant series win against Sri Lanka: Shaharyar Khan

Lahore, July 07, 2015 (PPI-OT): Chairman PCB Shaharyar M. Khan has congratulated captain Misbah-ul-Haq, Team Pakistan, head coach Waqar Younis, manager Naveed Akram Cheema and the entire support staff on a wonderful performance in the away series against Sri Lanka in the third Test at Pallekelle, thus clinching the series 2-1.

Speaking from London, Chairman PCB felicitated Misbah and the team management for making the nation proud. Chairman PCB’s Executive Committee Najam Sethi also congratulated the captain and the team management on rounding off a highly competitive series with a remarkable victory, in the process setting up many new records – including scoring 377 runs for a win in the fourth innings.

Excerpts from the PCB Chairman’s message to Misbah-ul-Haq:

“I felicitate you on this superb Test series victory. At Pallekelle, Team Pakistan fought its way back to seal the Test and with it the rubber with remarkable, positive cricket as Younus Khan and young Shan Masood batted outstandingly well in a Pakistan record stand after Imran Khan had polished off the last five wickets for his first five-for.

“Winning an away series is never easy, and it is Pakistan’s first in Sri Lanka since 2006. In that context, this is all the more commendable.

“There were many standout performances through the series, Yasir Shah’s leg-spin bowling in all three Tests, Asad Shafiq and Azhar Ali’s centuries in first and second Test respectively and Sarfraz Ahmed batting in the first and third Test, but Younus Khan and Shan Masood 242-run stand for the third wicket shall remain etched in memory for long. “It thus was a great performance, and in this the contribution of the coaching staff headed by Waqar Younis must also be acknowledged.”
