COVID situation: 11 died, 1049 infected

Karachi, January 05, 2021 (PPI-OT): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that 11 more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 3,634 and 1049 new cases emerged when 12457 tests were conducted. This he said in a statement issued here on Tuesday. He added that 11 more patients died overnight lifting the death toll to 3,634 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate.

Mr Shah said that 12457 samples were tested against which 1049 cases were diagnosed that constituted 8.4 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 2420405 tests have been conducted against which 220501 cases have been detected, of them 90 percent or 198577 patients have recovered, including 707 overnight.

The CM said that currently 18290 patients were under treatment, of them 17472 were in home isolation, 11 at isolation centers and 807 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 720 patients was stated to be critical, including 71 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 1049 new cases, 828 have been detected from Karachi, including 375 from East, 227 South, 89 Korangi, 74 Central, 43 West and 20 Malir. Hyderabad has 40 new cases, Badin 26, Khairpur 18, Tando Allahyar 11, Naushehroferoze 10, Ghotki 8, Larkana and Sanghar 7 each, Jamshoro and Sukkur 5 each, Shaheed Benazirabad and Sujawal 4 each, Umarkot, Matyari and Jacobabad 3 each, Tando Muhammad Khan 2 and Kashmor 1. The CM urged people of the province to stay safe by observing SOPs issued by the government.
