Curfew, detention of leaders continue unabated in IOK

Srinagar, July 26, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities continued to impose curfew and other restrictions in the Kashmir Valley for the 18th consecutive day, today, to prevent people from staging demonstrations against the killing spree unleashed by Indian forces in the territory.

The authorities had imposed curfew in the territory following the extrajudicial murder of Hizbul Mujahideen commander, Burhan Wani, by Indian troops on July 8. The killing of Burhan Wani had triggered Intifada in the territory in which 56 people have been killed so far and over 55,00 others injured due to the firing of bullets, pallets and teargas shells by Indian troops and police personnel on peaceful protesters.

The puppet authorities continued to put Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Zafar Akbar Butt, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Javaid Ahmed Mir, Bilal Siddiqui, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Peer Saifullah and Ayaz Akbar under house arrest or in police custody to prevent them from leading the demonstrations.

Meanwhile, Hurriyet leaders Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik in a statement fervently appealed to the people especially employees and traders to donate from their salaries and income to the local Masjid committees/Bait-ul-Maal in their locality. They asked Masjid committees /Bait-ul- Maal to identify the poor and daily wage earners in the locality whose earnings have greatly been affected by the current wave of oppression, and disburse the donations accordingly.

The leadership said, “In these trying times it is our duty to stand with and for each other and help one another as much as we can.”
