Islamabad, November 29, 2012 (PPI-OT): Mr. Waqar Ahmed Chohan, Assistant Inspector General, Special Branch, Islamabad called on Mr.Zafar Bakhtawari, President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) to help improve community police relationships. Mr.Jamil Hashmi, Superintend police was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Zafar Bakhtawari highlighted the problems of business community and said that coordination among the business community police force is vital for smooth functioning of the system which eventually results in creating a healthy society.
ICCI President said that Islamabad Police with great skills and efficiency has been performing their duties to maintain law and orders in Federal area. He said that business community of Islamabad pays tribute to the Policeman who has sacrificed their lives to provide the security to the people. He assured him full cooperation of business community in making Islamabad a more peaceful and secure city.
Mr.Bakhtawari said that police also places barriers and obstacles at various places in Federal Capital which creates troubles for the people who have to travel from those routes to reach their destinations, thus, there is a greater need to modify these unnecessary pickets and barriers. In this situation, even customers are reluctant to go in the markets for shopping and to buy necessary items of daily use, he maintained.
Mr.Waqar Ahmed Chohan, Assistant Inspector General, Special Branch, Islamabad said that businessmen and investors needed a secure environment, therefore, Islamabad Special Branch is taking all necessary measures to improve the law and order situation.
He said that there was no doubt that citizens were facing problems due to pickets and barriers but these were necessary to ensure tight security. He emphasized on reviving the reconciliation committee with the consultation of stakeholders and said that regular interaction between the business community and Police was much needed to make the system more efficient.
Mr.Waqar Ahmed Chohan said that business community has always played their positive role for restoration of peace in the city. In this connection he said measures are being taken to encourage community policing, which help resolve general issues.
Mr.Munawar Mughal, former President of ICCI thanked Mr.Waqar Ahmed Chohan and Jamil Hashmi for visiting ICCI and said that there is need to speedup the process of inquiry and requested for greater cooperation from special branch to make the security system more efficient.
