Entrepreneurship culture needs to be promoted among youth: Zafar Bakhtawari

Islamabad, May 28, 2013 (PPI-OT): Youth possess immense potential and talent that must be exploited in the right way to harness their skills and capabilities. This was sated by Mr.Zafar Bakhtawari, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) while addressing at Muhammad Ali Jinnah University.

He said that honesty, hardworking and sincerity is the way to success, adding that there was an era when a person having vast lands was considered to a rich man, but this is the era of knowledge as the result of industrial revolution and urbanization.

He said that many people preferred to do a job rather than stating their own business, therefore he stressed the students to enter in to entrepreneurial arena as today is a better time than ever to start a business because most of enormous trade and investment activities in the country.

ICCI President also shared his personal success story with the students as to how with a humble start, he has now emerged as a well-established entrepreneur and owned a brand D.Watson. He said that he was having an option to serve in government services at distinguishable post but he preferred to enter in the business field instead of doing a job.

Mr.Bakhtawari said introduction of entrepreneurship curriculum in colleges and universities would develop an entrepreneurial population which will contribute effectively to the bottom-up development of a competitive private sector.

He said that Islamabad Chamber would further create strong linkages with the universities, with whom MOUs have already been signed for inculcating entrepreneurial sprit in youth, holding business plan competitions and undertaking research activities on micro and small scale projects.

He was of the view that enhanced linkages among chambers, financial institutions and universities could generate a wave of entrepreneurship development that would ultimately promote entrepreneurial culture in Pakistan. He suggested that college and university level encouragement in mentorship progress by using such as chambers and associations would help in creating entrepreneurial culture in the country.
