Sialkot: H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker, the Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of Ethiopia, visited the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) to strengthen trade relations between Ethiopia and Pakistan. During his visit on April 21, 2025, he emphasized the untapped potential for Sialkot’s products in the African market and encouraged local businessmen to participate in an upcoming exhibition in Addis Ababa.
The session was a collaborative effort between the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, SCCI, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan. Welcomed by SCCI President Mr. Ikram Ul Haq, Dr. Beker recounted his previous visit to Ethiopia with a Sialkot Chamber delegation, highlighting the opportunities for investment and joint ventures in Africa, particularly in Ethiopia.
Dr. Beker urged Sialkot’s business community to participate in the Single Country Exhibition in Addis Ababa from May 15 to 17, 2025, and assured them of SCCI’s support in mobilizing its members for the event. He also recalled the participation of SCCI members in a trade delegation to Ethiopia in May 2024, organized by the Ethiopian Embassy, emphasizing the need for a strong partnership between the Ethiopian Embassy and SCCI to enhance trade and investment relations.
He highlighted the significance of the upcoming Single Country Exhibition, which coincides with the ‘Invest in Ethiopia’ High-Level Business Forum on May 12-13, 2025. Dr. Beker described Ethiopia as a gateway for Sialkot to access other African markets and encouraged building partnerships with Ethiopian and other African stakeholders.
SCCI President Mr. Ikram Ul Haq assured Dr. Beker of the chamber’s commitment to participating in the exhibition, aiming to fortify trade ties between Pakistan and Ethiopia.
