Experts Visiting Abu Dhabi to Resolve Issues in Obtaining National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis

Abu Dhabi, June 12, 2012 (PPI-OT): Team of technical experts from Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is schedule to meet with the Pakistanis atthe embassy premises in Abu Dhabi on June 14 while a similar session will take place at Pakistan’s consulate in Dubai on June 15-16.

The visiting officials have the express mandate to troubleshoot problems faced by Pakistanis in obtaining National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP), mainly because of the non-availability of various documents necessary for processing such requests.

Recently, ameeting between Pakistan’s envoy to UAE Jamil Ahmed Khanand chairman of National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) in Islamabad had decidedto send a team of experts to UAE to look into the NICOP-related problems faced by members of Pakistani community and furnish on-spot recommendations.

Encouraging the Pakistanis settled in the UAE to benefit from this initiative, Pakistan’s Ambassador to UAE said: “Let me encourage our community members settled in the Emirates to take advantage of the experts’ visit and make sure that they visit the embassy in Abu Dhabi and consulate in Dubai on the dates reserved for these exclusive interactions to gain maximum benefit from this initiative.”

He added that the processing time for NICOP had improved in the last few months because of the efforts put in by the Embassy, and counselor halls were being expanded to extend maximum facilities to the community.

“We have further trained our staff in public dealing to raise the quality of services and more qualitative measures are being put in place for a better service delivery, “the envoy said.

Earlier in May, Pakistan’s envoy had held exclusive meetings with the members of Pakistani community, including ethnic Baloch representatives, apprising them of the initiatives underway to add value to counsellor services, including bringing the team of experts from Pakistan to troubleshoot any technical problems hindering NICOP processing requests.
