Rajouri Resident Booked for Using VPN Amidst Crackdown in IIOJK

Jammu, In a continuing crackdown on digital communication tools in occupied Kashmir, Indian authorities in Rajouri district have booked a resident for using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) application on his mobile phone, marking the third such case in the area over the last two days.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mohammad Zishan from the Kalakote area of Rajouri was detained by police during routine patrolling and frisking operations. It was discovered during the investigation that Zishan had installed three VPN applications on his phone. This arrest follows a recent directive from Additional District Magistrate Rajeev Kumar Khajuria, which suspended VPN services across the district.

The incident occurs amid extensive military operations in Rajouri and the adjacent district of Poonch, where Indian troops have conducted large-scale cordon and search operations over the past four days, resulting in the arrest of more than a dozen individuals.
