Federal Minister Inspects Landslide Damage in Skardu, Directs FWO for Immediate Action

Islamabad, Federal Minister for Communications, Privatization and Investment Board Abdul Aleem Khan concluded his tour of Northern Areas with a visit to Skardu, where he inspected the recent landslide damage affecting the main highway connecting Gilgit and Skardu. This inspection is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and functionality of critical infrastructure in the region.

According to Press Information Department, during his visit, Minister Khan reviewed the current situation with Maj. General Abdul Sami, Director General of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO), and Federal Secretary Communications Ali Sher Mehsud. He emphasized the need for heightened attention and precautionary measures to prevent further landslides and ensure the safety of the region’s residents and their properties.

The Minister directed the FWO to conduct extensive surveys and deploy heavy machinery to mitigate any further risks effectively. He highlighted the importance of rapid response to any untoward incidents to provide maximum relief in the shortest possible time. Assurances were given by FWO officials that restoration efforts on the highways would be expedited and that adequate resources would be allocated to address areas prone to landslides.
