Fifth meeting of Management Committee held at National Cricket Academy

Lahore, May 17, 2014 (PPI-OT): The fifth meeting of the Management Committee was held today at National Cricket Academy Lahore under the chairmanship of Mr. Najam Sethi. The other members in attendance were M/s Shaharyar M. Khan, Mohammad Ijaz Chaudhry, Naveed Akram Cheema and Shakil Shaikh.

From Management, Chief Operating Officer Mr. Subhan Ahmad, Chief Financial Officer Mr. Badar M. Khan and Director Coordination, Implementation and Media Mr. Amjad Hussain Bhatti attended. Mr. Taffazul Rizvi, Legal Advisor PCB was a special invitee.

The Committee was apprised that as per the terms of reference of the Management Committee, revisions in the PCB constitution were required to make it more democratic and representative. That process has been concluded with the submission of a draft constitution by two former Judges of Supreme Court Justice (R) Fakir Mohammad Khokhar and Justice (R) Syed Jamshed Ali Shah.

The draft constitution has been submitted now to the Federal Government for vetting and approval. The Chairman PCB informed the Management Committee that he has written to the Ministry of IPC requesting that a date for the PCB elections may be announced as soon as the Federal Government has vetted and the Patron/Prime Minister of Pakistan has approved it.

The Management Committee discussed amendments in the Service Rules with a view to bringing it in line with modern corporate best practices. The Management Committee approved the process of selection and appointment of Selection Committees, coaches and organizing of training camps.

The Management Committee also gave a direction to the Chairman to initiate a process of bringing school, college and university cricket into the mainstream.
