KARACHI: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has committed to supporting private-sector-led economic growth, highlighting the government’s role in providing a stable policy environment.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Aurangzeb, while speaking at a conference organized by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, reiterated that the government will not interfere in business affairs. He clarified that the government’s duty is to ensure policy clarity and continuity. The Finance Minister mentioned ongoing consultations with the business community to gather input for the upcoming fiscal budget.
Aurangzeb highlighted that Pakistan has achieved macroeconomic stability over the last year, receiving positive feedback from the International Monetary Fund. He noted that the IMF’s Managing Director praised Pakistan’s reform-based program during a meeting with the Prime Minister.
The Finance Minister also addressed the insurance sector, noting plans for privatizing insurance entities within the private sector. He revealed that a recommendation for this move has been approved by the federal cabinet.
