First Shahbaz Bhatti Freedom Awards presented

Islamabad: First Step Forum (FSF) presented the First Shahbaz Bhatti Freedom Award posthumously to the late Federal Minister for Minorities, Shahbaz Bhatti. His brother, Dr.Paul Bhatti, Adviser to Prime Minister for Interfaith Harmony, received the award on his behalf at the award dinner in Brussels, says press release here on Sunday.

The second award was presented to Dr Hany Hanna, Egypt, at the same occasion for his work for human rights and democracy in the country. Dr Hanna is known as the “preacher of the revolution” and highly respected in the present situation in Egypt.

The former Prime Minister of Norway, Mr Kjell Magne Bondevik, the Secretary General of the German CDU, Mr Hermann Groehe, were among others present at the award dinner.

FSF will present the award once a year to a person who has made an important impact for human rights, democracy and religious liberty.
