Forensic test proved rape and murder victim Aasifa given sedatives

Srinagar, July 25, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Forensic Science Laboratory has established that the nomadic Muslim girl raped and murdered in Kathua this January was sedated during captivity. The girl, Aasifa, belonging to a Bakarwal Muslim family, was kidnapped on January 10 and her body was found on January 17 near Rasana village in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district of Jammu.

Public Prosecutor Santosh Singh Basra told media that “FSL report mentions sedative had been administered to the minor girl. The trade name and composition on the medicine strip has faded because it had remained in open ground for around 15 days.”

The Crime Branch, which investigated the case, has said that the sedative had been bought by one of the culprits, Deepak Khajuria, from a shop at Kootah and handed it to another culprit, Shubham, who then administered it to the victim to keep her sedated, Basra said.

The Crime Branch had presented a charge sheet in the court after completion of all legal formalities of investigation. A senior Crime Branch official, involved in investigations, told while talking to a Srinagar-based English newspaper said, “The FSL has confirmed that she had been given more than eight pills at a time.”

The entire abduction and sexual assault, the CB charge sheet mentions was planned and executed in order to dislodge a group of Bakerwal Muslim nomads from Rasana village – to which the victim belonged. The investigation has named Sanji Ram, a retired revenue official, as the mastermind. His son Vishal Jangotra is among the seven other culprits.
