Sumjhi condemns ransacking of properties in south Kashmir

Srinagar, July 25, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Secretary General, Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi has strongly condemned the ransacking of properties by Indian forces in the name of search operations and night raids in nook and corner of the territory, saying the authorities have waged a war on innocent civilians.

While referring to the night raids and CASOs carried out by Indian troops in several villages in South Kashmir, Sumjhi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that scores of innocent and peaceful protestors were injured in the indiscriminate firing. “We strongly condemn the night raids in Shopian and adjacent areas,” he said and added that the Indian forces had turned Jammu and Kashmir into a battlefield.

Expressing his deep concern over human rights violations in Kashmir, he appealed the UN, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, International Red Cross and other human rights organizations to take cognizance of the rights violations perpetrated by the Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League in a statement condemned the harassment of inamtates in Udampur Jail. The JKML in a statement expressed anguish and concern over prejudiced attitude of authorities of Udampur jail towards Kashmiri detainees.
