Government to ensure transparency in privatization process of Pakistan steel mills, Senate informed

Islamabad, June 08, 2020 (PPI-OT): The Senate was informed today that the government will ensure transparency in the privatization process of Pakistan steel mills. This was stated by Minister for Information and Broadcasting while responding to a point of order raised by Senator Raza Rabani in the House. He said the government will also keep conflict of interest in view. Earlier, Senator Raza Rabani criticized government policy to privatize steel mills. Seven bills were introduced in the House.

These include; “The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2020” for insertion of new Article 25B demanding to declare provision of health facilities as fundamental right, “ The Working Women (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2020”, “The Pakistan Penal Code (Amendment) Bill, 2020], “Provincial Motor Vehicles Ordinance, 1965 [The Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2020”, “The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2020”, “The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2020] for amendment of Article 89” and “The Pakistan Environmental Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2020”.

The chair referred the bills to committees concerned. The House today passed four bills. These include; “The Maintenance and Welfare of Old Parents and Senior Citizens Bill, 2019”, “The Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2019”, “The Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2019” and “The Islamabad Pure Food Authority Bill, 2019”.
