Govt initiates a programme to save hilly areas of KP, GB

The Federal government has initiated a programme with the financial assistance of UNDP to save hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan from the damages of glaciers.

An official statement in Peshawar on Sunday, said under the programme four billion rupees will be spent on the installation of an early warning system to monitor the movement of glaciers in fifteen districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Similarly, digital sensors will also be established on the rivers to monitor the flood situation.
