Govt taking practical measures to uplift fishing industry in Balochistan

The government is taking practical measures to uplift the fishing industry in Balochistan.

A marine ambulance service has been started to provide timely assistance to fishermen stranded in the sea. The digitization of the Fisheries Department cost one hundred million rupees.

According to estimates, fresh water fisheries production in Balochistan is five point seven percent.

The construction of one hundred dams in the province is playing an important role in the development of the fishing industry. Work on these dams was started back in 2008. Sixty six dams have so far been completed. Which have a storage capacity of 0.320 million acre feet. These dams have the capacity to produce 273 million tonnes of fish.

Mirani and Hub dams alone have the capacity to produce one thousand metric tons of fish.

The establishment of fish hatcheries is also promoting fish farming.
