Hurriyet leaders condemn killing of youth in Naidkhai

Srinagar, March 15, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other Hurriyet leaders have condemned the killing of a youth by Indian police in Naidkhai area of Bandipora district. The youth, Farhat Ahmad Dar, was killed and eight other persons were injured when Indian police fired upon peaceful protesters in Naidkhai, yesterday.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar termed the killing as cold-blooded murder and called for strike in the territory tomorrow (Sunday) to protest against the killing of Farhat Ahmad Dar. He appealed to the people to stage demonstrations to draw world attention towards the Indian atrocities.

The Mirwaiz said that on one hand, Indian forces were killing innocent Kashmiris, while on the other, the people and leadership was not being allowed to visit the families of the martyrs. He said that the freedom sentiment of the people of Kashmir couldn’t be weakened through killings, arrests, detentions and other repressive tactics.

Hurriyet leaders including Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Zafar Akbar Butt, Javaid Ahmad Mir, Hilal Ahmad War and Yasmeen Raja in their separate statements issued in Srinagar strongly condemned the cold-blooded murder of the youth in Naidkhai and crackdown on Hurriyet leaders and activists by Indian troops and police personnel in the territory. They deplored that India had converted occupied Kashmir into a military garrison where its forces were committing gross human rights violations.

They said that New Delhi wanted to muzzle the voice of Kashmiri people through repressive measures but it would never succeed in its nefarious designs and the ongoing liberation movement would be taken to its logical conclusion. They said that India claimed to be the largest democracy of the world but always violated the democratic rights of the Kashmiri people.

Meanwhile, the Patron of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front-R, Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo and party Chairman, Farooq Ahmed Dar, and the spokesmen of Jamat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir in their separate statements issued in Srinagar described the murder of Kashmiri youth, Farhad Ahmad Dar as barbarism of India and appealed the world community and international human rights organizations to take notice.
