Islamabad, March 15, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has strongly condemned the terrorist attacks in two mosques in New Zealand in which about 49 people were and called upon the New Zealand government to provide justice to the bereaved families by taking strong action against the culprits.

Ahmed Hassan Moughal, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on behalf of business community expressed heartfelt condolences for the bereaved families and said that the Muslim community across the world was standing with them in this hour of need. He said New Zealand was a peaceful country, but terrorist attacks on mosques reflected that no country in the world was safe from terrorism.

He said the attack on Muslims in mosques seemed to be a big conspiracy against Muslims as they were targeted at a time when they had come to offer Friday prayers. He said such acts were very painful for Muslims. He said a significant number of Muslims was working in New Zealand and Australia making useful contribution to the economic development of these countries. However, some elements were bent upon harassing the Muslims, which was a very negative approach.

Ahmed Hassan Moughal demanded that New Zealand, Australia and all other countries where Muslims were in minority should take strong measures for the better protection of Muslim communities and no discriminatory measures should be taken against them. He said that Islam was a religion of peace, but such incidents of terrorism were badly hurting Muslims all over the world. He hoped that the New Zealand government would deal with the culprits with an iron hand and take required measures for better protection of Muslims living there.
