BJP Regime Seizes Properties of Seven Kashmiris Amid Ongoing Freedom Movement

Srinagar, In a recent action that has intensified concerns over civil liberties, the BJP-led Indian government has seized properties belonging to seven individuals in Baramulla district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The move is part of a broader strategy to suppress the local freedom movement, targeting those who support Kashmir’s right to self-determination.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the properties confiscated include land parcels totaling 8 Kanals, 6 Marlas, and 2 Sersai. The owners, identified as Sajad Ahmad Bhat, Irshad Ahmad Khan, Gulla Mochi, Mohammad Aslam Khan, Mohammad Beigh, Khalid Mir, and Rafiq Ahmad Bakerwal, are accused by the police of supporting demands for self-determination, a right affirmed by the United Nations to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

This action follows a pattern of property seizures by the Indian authorities, including the headquarters of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference in Srinagar, and numerous other properties belonging to prominent Hurriyat leaders and organizations. Moreover, the Indian administration has demolished homes, shops, and commercial complexes across the region, aiming to disenfranchise and dispossess those involved in the Kashmiri freedom struggle.

The systematic confiscation of properties is seen as a tactic by the Modi government to coerce the Kashmiri population into relinquishing their support for independence. Despite these efforts, local and international observers note that such measures have historically failed to deter the Kashmiri people’s resolve for self-determination and predict that they will continue to resist.

The international community is urged to acknowledge the severity of the situation and to intervene in finding a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir dispute, to prevent further injustices against the Kashmiri population.
