Impact II: Art One62 hosts its inaugural exhibition to celebrate Karachi’s international art scene

Karachi, October 29, 2019 (PPI-OT): Art One62, Karachi will host its inaugural art exhibition on October 29th, 2019. Impact II has been curated by Shehzar Abro and Andres Delgado. The show features a range of artists from Pakistan, Australia, Colombia, USA, and Canada working with new media, traditional media, and performances.

Impact II is a sequential exhibition – with predecessor taking place over 3 years ago at the Movenpick Hotel. The first segment of Impact was a show of 17 young artists from Karachi, coming together to use the hotel’s platform to showcase their work.

“I see myself inspired by things that may seem unimpactful to the naked eye – the texture of a rock, a conversation with a stranger, or a nice (or crappy) meal. It’s all an experience that makes me a little different from yesterday. This exhibition is an experience created by participating visual artists. Shaping the mind. Distorting perceptions. Subconsciously impacting us.” Shehzar remarked.

It is an exciting time for the art scene in Pakistan. With the second instalment of the Karachi Biennale taking place in the same week, there will be no shortage of art to look at in the city. Artists and art lovers from around the globe will witness exhibitions in multiple venues around Karachi for the biennale.

Art One62 is a new and upcoming space designed to host all forms of the arts. The space has a sister gallery in Sydney, Australia, where gallerist, Shahid Malik, promotes South Asian and Middle Eastern art.

“Art One62 is a platform for artists to thrive. It is a platform for art lovers to discover new cultures. The space provides the opportunity to inspire and be inspired.” Shahid Malik.
