Independence Day celebrations – Water and Power Development Authority Chairman Zafar Mahmood hoists national flag at Water and Power Development Authority House

Lahore, August 14, 2014 (PPI-OT): A simple yet graceful ceremony was held here today at WAPDA House to celebrate the Independence Day with national zeal. WAPDA Chairman Zafar Mahmood was the chief guest of the ceremony, who hoisted the national flag.

WAPDA Secretary Khalid Akhlaq Gilani, Managing Director (Administration) Yousaf Naseem Khokhar, Member (Finance) Anwar-ul-Haq, Member (Water) Muhammad Shoaib Iqbal, Member (Power) Badrul Munir Murtaza, WAPDA Hydroelectric Labour Union (CBA) General Secretary Khursheed Ahmed and senior officers of WAPDA and employees were also present on the occasion.

Special dua was offered for stability and prosperity of the country in the ceremony. Earlier, the Chairman also planted a sapling as part of week-long events arranged by WAPDA in connection with Independence Day celebrations. A mammoth national flag, especially prepared for the Independence Day, measuring 100 feet x 40 feet and weighing 180 kilograms has also been hung on the building of WAPDA House.
