India Drops to 96th in Global Corruption Index

New Delhi: India ranked 96 out of 180 countries in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) for 2024, as its score dropped to 38, according to a fresh report released by Transparency International.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the index ranks nations by their perceived levels of public sector corruption, as assessed by experts and business people. The scale ranges from zero, indicating high corruption, to 100, indicating a very clean public sector.

In 2024, India’s score was 38, a decline from 39 in 2023 and 40 in 2022. India’s rank in 2023 was 93, marking a fall in its standing over the past year.

In the latest index, Denmark emerged as the least-corrupt nation, followed closely by Finland and Singapore.
