India Expands Land Acquisition in Kashmir, Report Claims

Islamabad: India is intensifying its settler-colonial agenda in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) by seizing more land from Kashmiris, according to a report released by Kashmir Media Service.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, India’s colonial occupation of Kashmir started with its military intervention on October 27, 1947. Since then, Kashmir has been treated as a colony by India. The report highlights that the move on August 5, 2019, was a direct step towards further colonization of the territory, aligning with the objectives of Hindutva forces.

The report further claims that India is altering the region’s demography by settling non-Kashmiri Hindus in the area. The exploitation of Kashmir’s natural resources is occurring amidst heavy militarization, the report notes.

The report describes Modi’s strategy in IIOJK as involving land acquisition and marginalization of local residents. Indian business entities and tycoons are reportedly being used to advance the colonization efforts, according to the report.

It also draws parallels between India’s actions in IIOJK and Israel’s land acquisition tactics in Palestine, suggesting violations of multiple United Nations resolutions. The report calls on the international community to address what it describes as India’s colonialism in the region.
