India Must Fully Comply with Indus Waters Treaty: FO

Islamabad: The Foreign Office has emphasized that India is required to fully comply with the Indus Waters Treaty. On Monday, India communicated flood warnings through diplomatic channels, which the Foreign Office noted was not in accordance with the procedures set by the Indus Waters Commission under the Treaty.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Foreign Office reaffirmed India’s obligation to adhere to all provisions of the Indus Waters Treaty. It expressed concern over India’s unilateral decision to hold the Treaty in abeyance, highlighting that such actions constitute a serious violation of international law. The Foreign Office warned that this could have significant negative consequences for peace and stability in South Asia.
