PM Hails GB Shepherds for Saving Lives from GLOF

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has paid tribute to the three local shepherds of Gilgit Baltistan who helped save hundreds of lives in a nearby village by alerting about a Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF).

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister personally met Wasyiat Khan, Insaar, and Muhammad Khan in Islamabad, and presented them each a cheque worth 2.5 million rupees as a reward from the government of Pakistan for their humanitarian act.

The Prime Minister stated that these three men are heroes of Gilgit Baltistan and the whole nation is proud of them. He highlighted that their action and sense of responsibility during a natural calamity helped evacuate people, thus saving their lives.

Further, the Prime Minister mentioned that the Ministry of Climate Change is working on an early warning system in Gilgit-Baltistan that will help prevent any emergency situation or tragedy through timely updates.

The shepherds expressed their gratitude to the Prime Minister for his appreciation. They stated that they were thankful to Allah almighty who enabled them to save precious human lives.
