Indian army Captain among five killed, 9 injured in IOK

Srinagar, February 21, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, an Indian Army Captain and three soldiers were killed in an attack on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy near Pampore. The encounter is still continuing even after over 14 hours. Police claimed that at least three Mujahideen are holed up inside a government building complex of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute in the area.

Army personnel, whose elite 15 Corps headquarters is located barely 10 km from the encounter site, were rushed to assist the police and the CRPF. Three CRPF troopers and a civilian died since last night while nine other troopers were injured in the fire fight that erupted when Mujahideen attacked the building after attacking a convoy of the paramilitary forces on the highway in Pampore.

The gunfight erupted yesterday afternoon after Mujahideen attacked the CRPF convoy. An Indian captain was killed in fresh firing at Entrepreneurship Development Institute building where an encounter is underway since yesterday evening, police said.

“Eleven CRPF troopers travelling in the bus were injured in the attack. Two of the injured troopers identified as head constable G.D. Bhola Prasad of the 144 Battalion and constable-driver R.K. Raina of the 79 Battalion succumbed to their injuries while other injured are being treated in the hospital,” said an official.
