Finance Minister chairs meeting to review performance of Economic Affairs Division

Islamabad, February 21, 2016 (PPI-OT): Secretary, Economic Affairs Division, briefed the Minister on the on-going interaction with various multilateral and bilateral development partners, relating to different development projects. The meeting reviewed the on-going foreign funded project portfolio and felt the need for expediting disbursements under these projects.

The meeting was informed that EAD has been regularly following up project executing agencies and the provincial governments to resolve the issues hampering the expeditious implementation of projects. The details of various projects in the pipeline were also presented, for which negotiations were underway with development partners. The Finance Minister on the occasion emphasized the need for efficient utilisation of foreign financing. He directed EAD to keep close liaison with implementing agencies to ensure that projects are implemented as per timelines and delays are avoided.
