Indian Army Chief’s remarks flayed

Srinagar, January 14, 2018 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik has condemned a recent statement of the Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat terming it as an expression of naked fascism.

General Rawat while addressing a press conference in Delhi on Friday had expressed concern over the teaching of two separate maps to the students, one of India and the other of Jammu and Kashmir. He had said that no separate map of Jammu and Kashmir was needed. General Rawat had emphasized that the most misguided youth were coming from schools where they were being radicalized.

Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement issued in Srinagar said Rawat’s remarks demonstrated his anti-Muslim and anti-Kashmir mindset. He said that the statement had proved that the real control of India was lying in the hands of Indian armed forces. He made it clear to General Bipin Rawat and Indian political leadership that Kashmiris were rendering valuable sacrifices for the freedom cause and India can never defeat their aspirations by military means.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference in a statement issued in Srinagar denounced the assertions made by puppet Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in the so-called Kashmir assembly, and said that she had resorted to blatant lies for her lust to remain in power. Mehbooba Mufti had said that making Kashmir a part of India was the bold and historic decision of Sheikh Abdullah and Maharaja Hari Singh. The APHC maintained that such negative statements would not change the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Indian troops vandalized property and subjected residents to ruthless torture during a cordon-and-search operation in Awantipora area of Pulwama district. The troops barged into residential houses at Midoora locality and conducted house-to-house searches.

Massive protests were held against the injuries to two civilians including a woman in Indian troops’ firing on protesters in Zianakote area of Srinagar. The victims have been identified as 50-year-old Syeda Salaam and Abdul Aziz Laway. The youth hit the streets against the incident, and raised anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.

On the other hand, the Mirwaiz-led Hurriyat forum in a statement condemned the arrest of a Srinagar-based businessman, Bilal Ahmad Kawa by Delhi police in connection with a 17-year old case. Police in occupied Kashmir have confessed that they had nothing adverse in their records against Bilal.
