Indian troops martyr 3 Kashmiris in April

Srinagar, May 01, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their stepped-up state terrorism martyred three innocent Kashmiris including one child in the last month of April.

According to the data, compiled by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, during siege and search operations, 53 persons including Hurriyet leaders and activists were arrested and 65 were injured when the troops resorted to brute force and teargas shells on peaceful demonstrators in the occupied territory.

Meanwhile, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has been invited by the European Union to an international conference on Kashmir being held on 27th May in the Birmingham city of the United Kingdom. A spokesman for the forum led by the veteran leader in a statement said that the European Union in its invitation letter had reiterated its support for the just cause of the Kashmiris and peaceful solution to the Kashmir dispute.

He appealed to the European Union to impress upon India to issue travel documents to the veteran Hurriyet leader so that he could attend the conference.

APHC leader, Zafar Akbar Butt in a statement said that the Hurriyet through effective mass contact programmes and unity would thwart the conspiracies being hatched by India against the freedom movement.

In Jammu, at least, 25 school children including two teachers were wounded when school buildings in Bhaderwah and Kishtwar areas collapsed after an earthquake measuring 5.8 hit Jammu and Kashmir, this afternoon.

The Kishtwar-Batote highway was blocked due to heavy landslides triggered by the earthquake. Newly constructed hospital and college buildings also suffered extensive damage in the Kishtwar area.
