Information Minister urges upcoming govt to focus on economic reforms

Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Murtaza Solangi, says the caretaker setup does not have a mandate regarding the introduction of reforms in the country.

Talking to a program on PTV News, he urged the upcoming government to pay special attention to the introduction of economic reforms, curbing political polarization, ensuring good governance, and establishing harmonious relationships with the world.

He said that the forthcoming government should conclude the privatization process in a befitting manner.

The Minister said that there is room for the reconstruction of the Federal Board of Revenue in order to bring tax reforms to the country.

Highlighting the importance of the Special Investment Facilitation Council, Murtaza Solangi said several initiatives have been taken in this regard, and he urged the upcoming government to accomplish the remaining initiatives of SIFC.

Alluding to the steps taken for the appreciation of the rupee against the dollar, the Ministe
r said the caretaker government tackled the issues of Hawala and Hundi effectively.
