Inspector General Police Punjab directs to provide fool-proof security to all Mehfil, Jaloos and processions of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (S.A.W)

Lahore, December 06, 2016 (PPI-OT): Inspector General Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has directed to provide fool-proof security to all Mehfil, Jaloos and processions of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (S.A.W). IGP further directed field officers to devise comprehensive security plan for each Mehfil and Jaloos in all districts by utilizing all resources and to implement these security plans in full spirit to avert threats of targeting Eid Milad-un-Nabi (S.A.W) processions. He stated this while addressing to a video-link RPOs conference held at Central Police Office, Lahore today.

While enquiring about situation of crime and law and Order, IGP directed to expedite crackdown against habitual offenders and to apprehend them immediately. IGP reviewed last quarter’s crime situation of all regions and districts and directed to arrest all offenders involved in murder, dacoity, street crime, kidnapping for ransom, vehicle and motorcycle theft and other crimes. He also directed to convert already undergoing operations against professional and habitual criminals into campaign.

While directing to make traffic system better, IGP said, strict action should be taken against immature drivers and locked-up bikes and vehicles should not be handed-over without surety from parents to be careful in future. IGP directed to take strict action against issuance of bogus driving licenses. He also said that clerical staff and tout-mafia should be discouraged strictly and the process should be made more transparent and in accordance with law.

Strict departmental and legal action should be taken against the officials involved in issuance of driving licenses to ineligible candidates, because issuing license to disqualified persons will endanger lives of citizens. IGP strictly directed field officers to not to use Elite Squad for their personal protocol. Departmental action will be taken against the officers found involved in such act.

He further said, even the Punjab Police Chief is not using Elite Squad so no other officer shall be allowed to do this unnecessarily. He further directed field officers to ensure the registration of FIRs and entries into “Roznamcha” through computerized system by January 1, 2017. This will not only make system more transparent but will also help to strengthen public trust on police.

While directing District Police Officers to resolve force’s welfare related issues on priority basis, IGP said, DPOs should take personal interest in welfare cases. DPOs should meet families of martyrs at least once in every three months period and should take every possible step to solve their problems. DPOs should also hear at least 30 constables daily in their office to listen and solve their issues, he further advised.

Similarly, RPOs should meet martyrs’ families at least once in every six months. Mushtaq Sukhera said, farewell ceremonies should be organized in DPO offices to honour retiring police officers and officials. Commemorative shields should be presented in honour of their services for the department. IGP further said, in discipline cases, system of reward and punishment should be ensured and while imposing any punishment, the principals of justice should be kept in view.

Mushtaq Sukhera also said, robberies always are on upwards trend in winter season and to prevent such cases, search of passengers before boarding should be ensured and drivers of buses and wagons should be directed not to load passengers permanent bus stops, because such passengers usually facilitate dacoits by providing them information and support.

While directing to make front desks operational in all districts of the Punjab by 15th of December, IGP said, Prime Minister or Chief Minister Punjab will formally inaugurate Front Desks Project on January 1, 2017 so Front Desks should be operational in all districts of the Punjab before December 15, 2016.

IGP also directed to ensure security of all foreigners and particularly Chinese working or living in Pakistan. He directed all Regional and District Police Officers to take efficient steps control crime ratio in their respective districts in last month of the year. He also directed RPOs to personally monitor security of Punjab Police’s Training Centers in their respective districts.
