Int’l Day of World’s Indigenous Peoples Observed with Focus on Midwives

Islamabad: International Day of World’s Indigenous Peoples was observed on Sunday, highlighting the crucial role of indigenous midwives in safeguarding life and well-being.

According to Radio Pakistan, the theme for this year is “Honouring Indigenous Midwives: Safeguarding Life and Well-being.” This theme underscores the significant contributions of indigenous midwives to their communities, emphasizing their role in health and cultural preservation.

An estimated 476 million Indigenous Peoples reside across 90 countries, representing 5,000 different cultures. This diversity highlights the rich cultural heritage and unique traditions of Indigenous Peoples around the globe.
