IOK HR body seeks report on Kishtwar violence

Srinagar, August 15, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Human Rights Commission of occupied Kashmir has sought report from the puppet authorities on communal violence in Jammu region.

A Division Bench of the Commission, taking a suo moto cognizance of media reports, sought reports on the matter from the Chief Secretary, DGP of the territory, Divisional Commissioner of Jammu and Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar.

“The media has highlighted the unfortunate incident which took place on the eve of Eid in Kishtwar. It appears that the unfortunate incident and its after effects have violated the basic human rights of many of the innocent persons whose life and property has been damaged,” the bench observed.

“Let reports be called from the Chief Secretary, DGP of the territory, Divisional Commissioner of Jammu and Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar. Case to come up on August 26, 2013. All the reporting officers be asked to submit their respective reports on fax. All affected persons or their NOKs can approach and assist the Commission by filing correct and detailed statement of facts regarding the incident so that the actual position can be presented in its true prospective,” the Bench observed.

On the other hand, the Chairman of Jamiat-e-Hamdaniya, Maulana Riyaz Ahmad Hamdani, addressing a public gathering in Srinagar termed the communal riots in Kishtwar a deep-rooted conspiracy against the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir. He asked the puppet administration to provide adequate security to the Muslims in Jammu region and disband members of the so-called Village Defence Committees who were basically activists of extremist parties like BJP, Bajrang Dal and RSS.

Meanwhile, All India Forward Bloc in a statement in New Delhi condemned the Kishtwar violence. It criticized the puppet regime the way it handled the issue.
