It was responsibility of municipal departments to provide people with healthy recreational facilities: Metropolitan Commissioner

Karachi, December 20, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Metropolitan Commissioner Samiuddin Siddiqui has said that it was responsibility of Municipal Departments to provide people with healthy recreational facilities and table tennis was very popular among youngsters and lots of players associated with this sport has earned much respect for the nation and the country.

It was necessary to hold the competitions of all sports including table tennis on local level and talented players should be fully encouraged. He expressed these views while addressing as a Chief Guest in a ceremony held on the occasion of Karachi Table Tennis Championship 2013 in Majeed Khan Gymnasium Islamia Club Soldier Bazar.

On this occasion Tournament Organizing Secretary Arif Khan, Coordinator Saleem Ahmed and other officials were also present. Metropolitan Commissioner said that KMC was always in an effort to provide youngsters with healthy recreational facilities and competitions of various sports including Table Tennis, Badminton and Volleyball were also held under the arrangements of KMC every year whereas children of schools were also provided with training opportunities in Summer Camps.

He said that provision of healthy recreational facilities to citizens produces positive outcomes. Congratulating officials of Karachi Table Tennis Association he expressed hope that such type of competitions to provide youngsters with healthy recreational facilities would be held in future as well. He announced Rs10 thousand reward for the winner of Women Singles Competition Arbia Ali and Rs10 thousand for the winner of Men Singles Aheel Shah.

This may be noted that Karachi Table Tennis Championship was held by Karachi Table Tennis Association. Tournament Organizing Secretary Arif Khan also spoke on the occasion.
