JKPM condemns continued HR abuses by Indian troops in IOK

Srinagar, January 26, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM), a constituent of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), has strongly condemned the continued human rights violations by Indian troops in the territory and urged the world community to play positive role in halting these abuses.

APHC leader and the JKPM Senior Vice Chairman, Mir Shahid Saleem addressing a party meeting in Jammu said that India had no right to celebrate its Republic Day in the occupied territory as it had deprived the Kashmiri people of their birthright to self-determination.

He said that the Kashmiris living in different Indian states in connection with their studies and business activities were being harassed and even forced to leave India. He said that in the present circumstances that India considered Kashmir as its colony, celebrating January 26 in the territory was nothing but to rub salt on the injuries of Kashmiri people.

APHC leader and the Chairperson of Muslim Khawateen Markaz Jammu and Kashmir, Yasmeen Raja addressing on the occasion as chief guest said that the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people for securing their right to self-determination would not go waste. She said that the Hurriyet Conference was well aware of the difficulties of Jammu people and assured them that they would not be left alone.

Hurriyet leader, Abdul Ghani Shah, who chaired the meeting, said that the people of Kashmir being a basic party to the Kashmir dispute should be included in the talks process between Pakistan and India. He said that Kashmiris’ inclusion in the dialogue over Kashmir was imperative for its permanent settlement.
