Pakistan Braces for Rising Temperatures and Thunderstorms Across Regions

Islamabad, The National Weather Forecasting Centre in Islamabad has issued a weather advisory indicating a significant rise in daytime temperatures across Pakistan, especially in the southern half of the country. This temperature increase is expected to precede a series of rain-dust storms and thunderstorms due to a westerly wave entering from the west around May 10.

According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, the westerly wave is likely to affect various parts of Pakistan with Balochistan experiencing higher than usual temperatures from May 8 to May 10, followed by thunderstorms in several districts. Similar conditions are forecasted for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Punjab, Islamabad, and Sindh, with rain and thunderstorms expected to provide some relief from the elevated temperatures.

In Punjab and Islamabad, temperatures will be 3-5°C above normal before rain and dust storms hit the regions from the night of May 10 through to May 12. Sindh is also expected to see a rise in temperatures with dust and thunderstorms anticipated in areas like Sukkur and Larkana around the same time.

The forecasting center advises farmers to adjust their crop watering schedules and harvesting plans in light of the forecasted weather conditions. The general public is urged to minimize exposure to direct sunlight to avoid heat-related issues. Additionally, the potential for windstorms, hail, and lightning could disrupt daily activities and pose risks to standing crops, loose structures, and electrical installations.

This weather pattern is expected to alleviate the high temperatures during the anticipated wet days, and authorities are advised to remain alert to mitigate any adverse impacts of the changing weather conditions.
