Joint Working Group Meeting between India and Pakistan to be held in September

Karachi, September 10, 2012 (PPI-OT): In line with the efforts of the present government to enhance ties with all neighboring countries, a Joint Working Group Meeting of Indian and Pakistani officials was held in Islamabad on Sept 6, 2012 to improve cooperation and collaboration in the Information Technology arena.

Mr. Azher Ali Choudhry, Joint Secretary Ministry of Information Technology, Government of Pakistan and Managing Director Pakistan Software Export Board headed the Pakistani Delegation while the Indian side was represented by Dr. A.K Garg, Director Additional Director (E-Governance, Innovation and IPR), Department of IT and Telecom, Government of India.

Positive outcome of the meeting included invitation to the Honourable Indian Delegates to attend ITCN, the largest IT exhibition in Pakistan as well as CONNECT, a premier B2B IT exhibition held annually in Karachi.

The India Pakistan Joint Working group also agreed on enhancing the visits of the public and private sector representatives between the two countries. Visa Facilitation for the citizens of the two countries was also discussed and

it was agreed to address the issue by studying and addressing the bottlenecks. It was further agreed to constitute a group of experts from both countries to cooperate and collaborate on Internationalized Domain Name registration in local languages. In concluding remarks, the Joint Secretary (Mr. Azher Ali Choudhry) stressed upon the importance of enhanced contact between information technology sector of the both countries and thanked the Indian side for their visit.
