Karachi Mayor Announces Major Infrastructure and Water Supply Projects for District West

Karachi: Mayor Murtaza Wahab outlined several new initiatives aimed at addressing the chronic water shortages and infrastructure needs in Karachi’s District West, emphasizing the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life for its residents. These projects, guided by the special directives of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, include the construction of a new canal from Hub Dam and ongoing work on the K-IV water project, set to significantly boost water supply within the next 12 months.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, during a meeting with UC chairmen from District West, Mayor Wahab detailed the plans which also encompass the construction of Metroville Road to enhance transportation facilities. The meeting, attended by notable figures such as the Chief Executive of Karachi Water Corporation, Asadullah Khan, and other local leaders, focused on a collaborative approach to solving the water and road issues prevalent in the area.

Mayor Wahab confirmed that the new canal from Hub Dam is expected to provide an additional 40 million gallons of water per day, alleviating some of the water scarcity issues faced by District West. Further discussions during the meeting addressed the conditions of roads and other local issues, with UC chairmen sharing their constituents’ concerns and suggestions for improvement. Mayor Wahab reiterated the government’s commitment to rapid development, citing substantial provincial support and funding for these critical projects. He assured that the development efforts would also extend to District Central and Keamari, reflecting a broader plan to improve infrastructure and public services across multiple districts.

The completion of these projects, including the much-anticipated Metroville Road, is projected to reduce travel times, save fuel, and improve access to cleaner and more reliable water sources, fundamentally enhancing living conditions in the affected areas.
