Karachi Mayor Announces Progress on Korangi Causeway, Aims for January 2025 Completion

Karachi: Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, reviewed the ongoing construction of the Korangi Causeway, a project aimed at addressing the frequent closures of Korangi Road during rainfalls. The causeway, expected to be completed by January 31, 2025, is set to benefit residents in Korangi, Landhi, and the nearby industrial areas by providing a sustainable solution to the area’s long-standing accessibility issues.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab highlighted the strategic importance of the 1.4-kilometer-long overhead bridge, which will connect Korangi and Ibrahim Hyderi with other city areas. He reassured critics by emphasizing a focus on results-oriented work and promised continued urban development. During the inspection, Mayor Wahab, along with political and official figures, stressed the need for high-quality construction and a swift development process that takes all aspects of the plan into account.

Mayor Wahab also remarked on the past difficulties faced by residents, especially industrialists, laborers, and students, due to the causeway’s vulnerability to flooding. The new construction is part of broader efforts by the Pakistan People’s Party to enhance Karachi’s infrastructure, including roads, bridges, underpasses, and drainage systems, to foster progress in the city.
