Karachi, April 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Director Charged Parking Syed Raza Abbas Rizvi has declared the illegal act of harassment and arrest of KMC Charged Parking Contractor staff on Tariq Road as interference in KMC works and demanded higher authorities of police department to take notice of the incident.
According to details KMC allotted the contract of receiving charged parking to private contractor on Tariq Road which deployed its staff to receive parking fees of vehicles here. Mobile of Ferozabad Police Station visited charged parking area of Tariq Road at about 12:30pm on Tuesday and following the directive of SHO Ferozabad Azam Gopang took seven staff members of charged parking into custody with out revealing the reason after this Department of Charged Parking officers contacted with concerned police station and asked for the reason of arresting staff.
SHO said that he acted as per order of his S.P. Usman Bajwa therefore he could not release the staff until the S.P. directs to do so. He further asked for providing the list of all such officials working at Tariq Road to the Ferozabad Police Station with complete file of approval of contract.
Director Charged Parking condemned this act of police and said that KMC spends budget of millions on construction and repairing of roads and cleanliness and receiving the parking fees of parked vehicles was its right and the fund received was spent on public welfare therefore no department has right to interfere in KMC works.
He said this act of police could result decrease in KMC revenue since KMC does not have many resources to deploy its staff therefore KMC through transparent auction has allotted the locations of charged parking to private contractors thus police should not interfere in KMC works.
