Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to complete 1st Phase of Shahabuddin Market in 15 months

Karachi, June 20, 2012 (PPI-OT): Metropolitan Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan said that the shops on mezzanine and ground floor of Shahabuddin Market Saddar would be sold under Public Housing Scheme. He said this while chairing a meeting on Shahabuddin Market.

The meeting was attended by Senior Director Transport and Communication Muhammad Ather, Director Public Housing Scheme Sabah-us-Salam and other high officials.

He said that KMC would soon advertise this project to ensure maximum participation of the people. He said this project would be sold under Public Housing Scheme and a Pakistani scheduled bank would be appointed to receive the applications to ensure fair draw.

He said that construction work on this project was underway and in its first phase envisaging the completion of 130 shops on ground floor and 159 shops on mezzanine floor would be sold under Public Housing Scheme which was expected to be completed in 15 months.

He said this project would facilitate shopkeepers, buyers and the citizens visiting this area with better flow of traffic and the first phase of this project would cost 735 million. He said a modern parking plaza was being built in the second phase of this to facilitate citizens which would have the capacity to contain 580 cars and hundreds of motorcycles at a time.

Senior Director Transport and Communication Muhammad Ather on this occasion informed to Metropolitan Commissioner that better traffic management in this busy area was also being worked out to ensure better flow on surrounding roads.
