Karachi Police Review Meeting Targets Anti-Narcotics Efforts and Fugitive Arrests

Karachi: The latest review meeting at the Central Police Office in Karachi, led by IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, concentrated on bolstering anti-narcotics operations and enhancing efforts to apprehend fugitive suspects across the city. Top police officials, including Additional Operational and Investigation SSPs and DIGs, discussed strategies to combat drug-related activities and improve the efficacy of police actions.

According to Sindh Police, the DIGs of West, East, and South Karachi provided detailed briefings on current anti-narcotics measures and the challenges of arresting fugitive suspects. They reported an increase in drug distribution via social media platforms and emphasized the need for innovative approaches, including the use of a search app, to locate and arrest suspects. IG Memon expressed concerns that current measures against drug mafias were insufficient and urged for more effective and rapid improvement in police operations.

He highlighted the necessity of employing technical methods in line with modern requirements to dismantle the drug mafia networks and achieve tangible public-level outcomes. Memon also proposed the appointment of experienced and expert officers to handle serious cases and stressed the importance of presenting solid evidence and effective case challans in court.

Additionally, Memon advocated for the creation of a public-accessible database of fugitive suspects to aid in their capture and reduce crime rates. He tasked the Additional IG Karachi with developing comprehensive suggestions for improving police station operations based on formal inspection reports, which are to be reviewed and implemented as part of broader police reform efforts.
