Kashmir main hurdle in Pak, India cordial ties: Mirwaiz

Srinagar, December 28, 2012 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that Kashmir dispute is the main impediment in the cordial relations between Pakistan and India and the two countries cannot progress in economic fields without settling it. Addressing a gathering at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, today, the Mirwaiz said that in the prevailing circumstances, the recent Pakistan visit of the APHC leaders was of greater significance and it would pave the way for settlement of the Kashmir dispute.

The Mirwaiz maintained that Pakistani leadership and people were aware of the sufferings of Kashmiris and they had always extended moral, political and diplomatic support to the just struggle of Kashmiri people. He said that India was increasing its defence budget every year to continue its illegal hold on Kashmir. He urged New Delhi to accept the ground realities and realise the fact that a nation could not be subjugated for too long.

Earlier, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other APHC leaders Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza and Musaddiq Aadil were given a rousing welcome at Srinagar airport on their return from Pakistan. A large number of people received the leaders at the airport amid high-pitched slogans. The Mirwaiz was taken to the Jamia Masjid Srinagar and Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi to Badgam in processions.
