Kashmiris’ sacrifices not to go waste: Mirwaiz

Srinagar, April 28, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that the unparalleled sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiri people for securing their inalienable right to self-determination will not be allowed to go waste.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said this while addressing a meeting of the activists of his party, Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee, in Srinagar, today. He said that the Kashmiris had nourished the ongoing liberation movement with their blood and urged the youth to demonstrate devotion to take it to its logical end. The APHC Chairman said that the day was not far off when the Kashmiris would achieve their cherished goal. Earlier, the Mirwaiz was welcomed amid high-pitched pro-freedom slogans at the Kawdara Chowk.

On the other hand, Muttahida Majlis-e-Mushawrat in a statement issued after a meeting in Srinagar reiterated the demand of the return of mortal remains of Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru from New Delhi’s Tihar jail to Kashmir. The statement said that the Kashmiri people would stage demonstrations after Juma prayers and write slogans on walls in favour of the demand.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement, Firdous Ahmad Shah, addressing a gathering at Wuyen in Pulwama deplored that India was setting up more army camps in occupied Kashmir to prolong its illegal occupation on the territory.

People took to the streets and held a demonstration at Hygam in Sopore against the arrests by the Indian police. The police had arrested five persons following the killing of four cops in an attack in the area on Friday.

The police have launched a massive manhunt to track down the persons who had recently put up anti-India graffiti and hoisted a Pakistani flag at historic Hariparbat Fort in Srinagar.
