Karachi: The electricity tariff for dwellers of Karachi has been lowered by 19 paisa per unit by the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) on account of fuel price adjustment for March excluding lifeline and agricultural consumers.
According to Alfalah Securities Limited, this adjustment has been made on account of discrepancies in the calculation of subsidies on account of gas load management programme (GLMP) while the regulator has also directed not to include variations in the 560MW Bin Qasim power plant’s heat rate until a proper test has been conducted. The impact of this nominal decline is power tariff would not be significant and would not contribute much to ease off inflation.
