Islamabad, July 08, 2012 (PPI-OT): Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar met the UN Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki-moon today, on the sidelines of the Tokyo conference on Afghanistan. Foreign Minister Khar appreciated UN s role in promoting international agenda on peace, security, development and, Human rights and assured him Pakistan’s full support in this regard.
She also assured the secretary general that Pakistan would continue to play a leading role in UN peace keeping operations for the maintenance of International Peace and security. She also briefed the Secretary General on the situation in Afghanistan and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to long term Political and economic stability in Afghanistan.
Secretary General appreciated Pakistan’s role in Afghanistan and welcomed Pakistan’s decision to open the Ground Lines of Communication. He also thanked Pakistan for its contribution to UN peace Keeping operations and hoped that Pakistan would continue to support these operations.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Khar also had bilateral meetings with the Foreign Minister of Germany, France, Italy, Afghanistan, Australia and the British Secretary of State for international development.
