Killing of unarmed people is to defame freedom cause

Jammu, May 27, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has denounced the spate of target killings by the assailants in disguise in the territory, saying that India is using such incidents as a ploy to defame the Kashmiris’ just struggle for right to self-determination.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, was responding to the killing of yet another civilian, Ghulam Hassan Dar by unknown attackers at Dooru in Sopore, last night. He said that the increasing attacks on unarmed persons had a great significance particularly in the backdrop of Indian Defence Minister, Manohar Parrikar’s recent pro-terrorism assertions.

The veteran leader maintained that the killings were a deliberate attempt to create an atmosphere of terror and harassment in the territory, on one hand, and to label the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle as terrorism, on the other.

Addressing a gathering of Hurriyet activists at Beerwa in Magam, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that usurpation of political rights and restrictions on free movement of Hurriyet leaders had exposed the so-called democratic face of India in the world.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik addressing a press conference in Srinagar, today, announced to launch a 10-day ‘Court Arrest Movement’ from Friday. The JKLF Chief said that Mufti Muhammad Sayeed and his mentors in Delhi were hand in glove to suppress the freedom struggle through house detentions of Hurriyet leaders.

Senior leader of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples’ Movement, Mir Shahid Saleem in a statement in Jammu said that the BJP was working overtime to fulfil the RSS agenda in Jammu region. He referred to an order passed by the BJP-led forest ministry, which called for vacating purely the Muslim colonies on the pretext that they had come up on the forest land.

Hurriyet leaders, including Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Hakeem Abdul Rashid and Syed Bashir Andrabi and a team of Democratic Freedom Party, today, visited Kulgam and expressed solidarity with the family of a youth, who was killed by Indian troops during siege and search operation in Channigam area of the district. A life-sized poster of the incarcerated Kashmiri leader, Dr Muhammad Qasim Faktoo was placed at Pratap Park in Srinagar for a signature campaign demanding the release of all illegally detained political prisoners.
