Kundi directs interior ministry to restore blue passport Facility for ex-parliamentarians at the earliest

Islamabad, July 13, 2012 (PPI-OT): In a high level meeting, chaired by Faisal Karim Kundi, the Acting Speaker, and National Assembly directed the concerned authorities to restore the blue passport facility for the ex-parliamentarians at the earliest. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for interior Ch. Imtiaz Safdar Wariach, Secretary Interior Ch. Qamar Zaman and DG Passport Syed Wajid Ali Bukhari along with other high officials.

All the concerned authorities agreed to comply with the direction with no further delay and assured the Acting Speaker that all the codal formalities in this regard will soon be completed. The acting speaker expressed his satisfaction that all the ex-parliamentarians were already availing other perks and privileges including official rest houses, free medical treatment and VIP lounge.

Faisal Karim Kundi informed that at the time of the approval of the national budget on June 22, an amendment was made in the Finance Bill, in Act 1974, regarding the former member of any House of Parliament, who remained a member for at least one term, will enjoy medical facilities along with other perks which will be described in the law and which incumbent members are enjoying.
